1.- 73-3 <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request from Mr. Tom Simmons for water service in the— <br />gray area ", such service to be provided by the Lamar County Water Corporation, and <br />recommended the approval subject to standard City requirements. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Fisher to approve the request. The motion <br />carried.: 7 ayes, .0 nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt informed the Council of the request of six property owners for <br />water service on Highway 82 East and stated their application was at the present time <br />incomplete and that he was advising the Council for information only. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the tabulation.of bids for accounting equipment for two <br />.,machines, one for the Water and Sewer billing and collecting department and the <br />other for the general government accounting. City Manager Sweatt presented the only <br />bid received, that being from the Burroughs Corporation in the.amount of $44,137.22. <br />Mr. Sweatt advised the Council that bid fortes and specifications had been furnished <br />the Burroughs Corporation, IBM Corporation, and National Cash Register Corporation. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Hinds for the ap- <br />proval of the bid of the Burroughs. Corporation. The motion carried. 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the receipt of bids fora street roller, and City Manager <br />Sweatt presented a tabulation of the bids, with recommendation that the base bid of <br />the Shovel Supply Company, Inc. in the amount of $10,747.00, be approved as the lowest <br />and best bid. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Wil- <br />liams to approve the bid of the Shovel Supply Company, Inc. The motion carried: 7 <br />ayes, 0 nays..— <br />Mayor Brunette called for a report from the committee appointed to study the claim of <br />Mrs. Frederick Truby, 3210 Allen Street, for damages claimed to have been caused by <br />sewer backup. Councilman Williams, acting as chairman of- the committee, stated the <br />committee does not feel that the City of Paris is liable and recommended additional <br />cleanouts be provided to the property and that the claim be disallowed. After dis- <br />cussion, a motion was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Philley to <br />receive the report and approve the recommendation of the committee. The motion car- <br />ried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 1757, re- appointing Harvey Cavender to serve as a member of the Traffic <br />Commission for a term of three years, beginning July 1, 1976,-was. presented. A mo- <br />tion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Hinds for the adoption <br />of the resolution. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
