747 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />June 28, 1976 <br />A special Council Meeting was held on June 28, 1976 at 5:15 P. M. in the City Council <br />Room. Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Council - <br />men present George Fisher, Jr., David Philley, Jimmy Don Stone, Walter F. Williams. <br />Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City <br />Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Mayor Brunette presented a letter of resignation from Councilman U. L. Rainey. Coun- <br />cilman Rainey stated that he no longer - resided in the limits of the ward to which he <br />had been elected and extended his best wishes for continued success in helping to <br />make our city one in which we can be Justly proud. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Philley and seconded by Councilman - Fisher to receive <br />the resignation. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the Council would go into executive session to discuss <br />oarsonnel matters. The Council discussed appointment of various citizens. to E fll the <br />unexpired term of 0. s_. Rainey, resigned. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the executive session closed, and the regular meeting open. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the chair would receive nominations for a councilman <br />to fill the vacancy of 0. L. Rainey. Councilman Philley nominated Mr. Freddie Swaim. <br />s The nomination was - seconded by Councilman Fisher. A poll of-the Council showed 5 <br />for, none against, and Mr. Swaim was appointed Councilman by unanimous votes <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR JAMES M.
