748 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />July 12, 1976 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held on July 12, 1976 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: George Fisher, Jr., Ben Hinds, David Phil ley, Jimmy Don Stone, and Walter <br />F. Williams. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, <br />and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Julian Hendren, Central Presbyterian Church. <br />+- <br />Mr. Freddy Swaim, recently appointed Councilman to replace the vacancy created by s <br />the resignation of Mr. 0. L. Rainey, was administered the oath of office by City 4J <br />Judge Cedric Townsend. Councilman Swaim assumed his seat at the Council table. 4- <br />4_ <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of cc <br />previous meetings as furnished members of the Council. There being none, the <br />minutes were approved. <br />CL <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the boards and commissions of the City of Paris. <br />Mayor Brunette informed the Council that no action was necessary on the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission recommendations. <br />a� <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for amendments to the Zoning W <br />Ordinance: Ralph H. McAdams, Lot 18, Block 235 -A from SF -3 District to Commercial z <br />District; Jack Denman, Lots 3, 4, 9, and 10, Block 10, Town North Estates No. 2, <br />from SF -2 to Commercial District; Nathan J. Bell, a lot in City Block 287, from <br />SF -2 District to Office District. <br />N <br />Mayor Brunette referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their <br />study and recommendations and called for a public hearing at the next regular Coun- <br />cil meeting. <br />0 <br />City Manager Sweatt recommended that the Council authorize the preparation of an <br />ordinance creating a 50 foot "No Parking" zone on each side of Pine Bluff Street <br />at its intersection with 11th Street N. E. in accordance with the Traffic Commis- <br />sion recommendations. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Fisher authorizing the preparation of an ordinance. The motion carried: <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Ordinance No. 2291: <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING <br />THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br />BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE TRAFFIC NO PARKING MAP ADOPTED <br />IN PARAGRAPH (c) OF SECTION 29 -112 OF SAID CODE; ESTABLISHING <br />A NO PARKING AREA ON THE NORTH SIDE OF EAST AUSTIN STREET, <br />BEGINNING 30 FEET EAST OF SAID STREET'S INTERSECTION WITH <br />THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF 5TH STREET, S. E., THENCE WEST A <br />DISTANCE OF 200 FEET; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED <br />$200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN <br />CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF <br />AUGUST 1, 1976." <br />
