�- 666 <br />! City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to receive bids on logging tape re- <br />corder system, such bids to be received on March 3, 1976 and presented to the City <br />Council at its regular meeting on March 8, 1976. .A motion was made by Councilman <br />King and seconded by Councilman Stone to approve the request. The motion carried: <br />6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Bill Jones appeared before the Council and discussed a -fire loss that he sus- <br />tained on January 28, 1976. -Mr. Jones concluded his presentation by saying "I <br />have suffered at least an $8,000.00 loss as a result of a decision made by the <br />fire chief, and I would appreciate the serious consideration of this Council in <br />this matter. I feet that I am due a sufficient and fair reimbursement for this <br />loss ". <br />Mr. Mutt Cross appeared before the Council, stating that he was present at the fire <br />and considered the fire chief had made a correct decision. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman King to uphold the decision of <br />the fire chief in fighting the grass fire and commended the .fire department for <br />their work in fighting the fire. The motion was seconded by Councilman Rainey. <br />The motion failed to pass, showing 3 ayes, 3 trays, Councilman.Sterling, Councilman <br />Stone, and Councilman Moore voting -nay. <br />Mayor Brunette appointed a committee to study the request of Mr. Jones, as follows: <br />Councilman Stone, Councilman King,.and Councilman Sterling. <br />Mr. Robert Hayter appeared before the Council and gave an up- date-on the sewer <br />infiltration inflow study. = <br />Mayor Brunette.announced that the Council would go into executive session to dis- <br />cuss pending-litigation.. <br />j Mr. Don McLaughlin appeared before the Councii to discuss the redistricting suit <br />filed against the City of Paris in federal court. <br />- <br />Mayor Brunette declared the executive sessi ©n closed, and the Council meeting open. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman Rainey that the <br />Council recommend on court approval the amendment of the City Charter by its voters <br />so as to permit the election of .4 Councilmen from the residents of each of 4 Bards <br />as shown by maps designated as.Plan I and the election of 3 Councilmen - Pat - Large. <br />..The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />There being.no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR JAMES M.
