6Sy <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />March 16, 1976 _ <br />A special meeting of the City Council was held on March 16, 1976 at 6:45 P. M. in <br />the Municipal Court Room. The meeting was called to order by Mayor James M. Bru- <br />nette with the following Councilmen present: Lloyd Sterling, Joe King, and 0. L. <br />Rainey. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, <br />and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the City Council in executive session, and the Council Room <br />was cleared. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the order of Judge Wayne Justice as a result of the <br />re- districting suit styled A. M. Seamon etal vs. J. M. Brunette etal. City Attorney <br />Haynes advised the Council of further actions that would be open to the City should <br />the City Council wish to pursue them: <br />A motion was made by Councilman Sterling that the City attorneys be authorized to <br />pursue a stay order-with Judge Justice and in the event that-he does not grant such <br />motion that the attorneys be authorized to request a stay order from the Fifth Court <br />of Appeals at New Orleans and that the attorneys be further authorized to appeal <br />the decision of the district court in the cause number P-75-3-CA, Eastern District <br />of Texas, Paris Division, to the. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Rainey, and carried: 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR JAMES M.
