1.128 <br />Special Council Meeting <br />June 1, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />bi- monthly progress reports on all active city projects, including grant applications, status of <br />completion, status of any outstanding issues; develop diversity education; install signage on city <br />entrances on U.S. 82 East, 82 West and U.S. 271 North; start the process of preparing a request <br />for proposal for landfill and waste services; and that he would like a list of all contracted <br />services. Council Member Brown cited his goals for the City as completion of the Collegiate <br />Drive and Stillhouse Road projects. Council Member Jason Rogers said that he would like for <br />the City to re -visit the selling of water; make Paris more family friendly including sources of <br />entertainment; be more pro- active in diversity training for managers and supervisors; maintain <br />sidewalks and better maintain city property; replace some of the faded street signs; enforce code <br />regulations on rental properties; look at the possibility of paying water bills online; explore <br />recycling programs and community gardens; and initiating a user friend hotline for inquiries. <br />Council Member Wright said that he would like to see an established price in place for industrial <br />water consumption based on volume of use, number of employees and the entity's taxable value. <br />Council Member Pickle added that he would like to look at the Pat Mayse Lake Water Study and <br />receive a status report on the wastewater treatment plant plans, he wants to review sanitation <br />rates and routes; look at staffing levels and salaries for emergency service workers to make sure <br />they are competitive; he wants to know if the CAD system has helped the City manage coverage; <br />improve the airport and economic development; better utilization of code enforcement, continue <br />the demolition plan; and institute neighborhood/road cleanup programs. Council Member <br />Rhonda Rogers said she would like to see the City continue to pursue a strategic plan; work on <br />city /county cohesiveness and cooperation; commit to helping downtown; work on an appeal <br />process for some of the boards and commissions who currently are final entities for decision <br />making; and make the City more environmentally friendly. <br />4. Adjournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member <br />McCarthy and was seconded by Council Member Wright. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays.
