1424 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />November 14, 2011 <br />Page 7 <br />11, Deliberate and act on engaging the services of a consultant for professional services <br />related to a city manager search. <br />Mayor Hashmi stated that at a prior City Council meeting, the Council had discussed <br />engaging the services of a consultant to conduct a search for city manager applicants. He said <br />he brought this item forward, because he wanted the Council to take a formal vote on whether <br />or not Council wanted to utilize an executive search firm to assist them with finding qualified <br />applicants for the City Manager position. <br />A Motion to engage the services of a search firm was made by Council Member <br />McCarthy and seconded by Council Member Grossnickle: Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />12. Deliberate and act on A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN <br />EXECUTIVE SEARCH AGREEMENT WITH STRATEGIC GOVERNMENT <br />RESOURCES, INC. (SGR), TO CONDUCT A SEARCH FOR A NEW CITY <br />MANAGER; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />At the Council's direction, Gene Anderson said staff had located a reputable search firm <br />to conduct an abbreviated City Manager search. Mr. Anderson presented two proposals, one <br />from SGR and one from the Mercer Group. Mr. Anderson said the proposal from SGR's services <br />was for $12,000 plus expenses not to exceed $4,500. He said the proposal from the Mercer <br />Group was for $15,000 plus expenses not to exceed $4,500. Mr. Anderson also said that neither <br />proposal included travel expenses incurred by candidates. He also informed City Council that <br />the last search firm used by the City was the Pace Group and they were paid a total of <br />$37,811.33 for their services over a four month period. Mr. Anderson said that Chester Nolan, <br />Senior Vice - President of SGR, was available to answer any questions. Following discussion <br />between Mr. Nolan and the City Council, it was a consensus of City Council to bring this item <br />back for review and action at the next Council meeting. <br />13. Deliberate and act on regularly scheduled City Council meeting dates for the second <br />meetings in November and December. <br />A Motion to cancel the regularly scheduled City Council meeting dates for the second <br />meetings in November and December was made by Mayor Hashmi and seconded by Council <br />Member Pickle. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />14. Deliberate and act on the purchase of capital items. <br />Gene Anderson said that staff was requesting to go forward with the purchase of one <br />pneumatic roller in the amount of $135,000 and two physio- control life paks in the amount of <br />$34,000 each. <br />06 <br />
