Deliberate and accept the proposal from Bobby Smallwood Construction Company for <br />renovations to Fire Station No. 1. <br />Chief Grooms said when Fire Station No. 1 was built that it did not meet all of the <br />building and fire code requirements. He said that a couple of years ago they began the process of <br />correcting those inadequacies and the completion of extending the upstairs hallway, and <br />construction of an exit doorway and exterior stairway would complete the last major component <br />of that process. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member McCarthy and seconded by <br />Council Member Frierson. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />21. Deliberate and accept a grant for a type 6 Fire Engine under the TIFMAS Grant <br />Assistance Program through the Texas Forest Service. <br />Chief Grooms said the City had been awarded a grant for this fire engine and that the <br />grant funds would pay 100% of the cost of a fully equipped apparatus, including an installed <br />radio package and loose equipment complement. <br />A Motion to accept the grant was made by Council Member McCarthy and seconded by <br />Council Member Frierson. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays: <br />23. Deliberate and act on the purchase of a new 2011 Ford Expedition as a replacement <br />vehicle for the Fire Marshal. <br />Chief Grooms said that the Fire Marshal was currently operating a 2001 Ford Crown <br />Victoria with approximately 75,000 miles and that it did not have sufficient storage capacity for <br />investigation and inspection equipment. <br />A Motion to approve this item was made by Council Member Pickle and seconded by <br />Council Member Grossnickle. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />23. Convene into Executive Session pursuant to Section 551.071 of the Texas Government <br />Code, Consultation with Attorney, to receive legal advice from the City Attorney about <br />pending or contemplated litigation and/or on matters in which the duty of an attorney to <br />his client under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of <br />Texas, clearly conflict with this chapter. <br />Mayor Hashmi convened City Council into Executive Session at 8:58 p.m. <br />24.
