MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS 3 + <br />August 22, 2012 ` J. <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a special session at 5:00 p.m. on <br />Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: A.J. Hashmi <br />Council Members: Aaron Jenkins; Billie Lancaster; John Wright; <br />Richard Grossnickle; and Cleonne Drake <br />City Staff John Godwin, City Manager; Kent McIlyar, City <br />Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Shawn Napier., <br />City Engineer; Bob Hundley, Police Chief; Ronnie <br />Grooms, Fire Chief; Kent Klinkerman, EMS <br />Director; Doug Harris, Public Utilities Director; <br />Ron Sullivan, Public Works Director; and <br />Priscilla McAnally, Library Director <br />Absent: Council Member: Matt Frierson <br />Opening Agenda <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Hashmi called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Gene Anderson gave the invocation. <br />3. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Grossnickle led the pledge. <br />4. Citizens' forum. <br />Gene Anderson — he said that he sincerely regretted his erroneous statements concerning <br />the Striplands' sewer connection to a City sewer main. He said having found no record of the <br />connection, he made an assumption that it was done without permit. He also said the former <br />City Engineer Earl Smith's statement that he was fully aware of the connection and how it was <br />done convinced him that he was mistaken. Mr. Anderson apologized for his statements made at <br />the first July Council meeting. Mr. Anderson also expressed his regret and embarrassment that <br />he cause Mr. Stripland and his family. He said that he had learned a valuable lesson and hoped <br />that the Striplands could forgive his actions. <br />
