The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Allcorn at 4:00 p.m. Quorum present. <br />2. Commissioner Peeples made a motion to approve the minutes from the April 13, 2016 <br />meeting, Commissioner Knox seconded, motion carried 6 - 0 <br />3. Commissioner Allcorn introduced the following Certificates of Appropriateness <br />COA # 2016 -017 823 S. Church Street, Restoring historic porch to original configuration, <br />Randy Hider <br />Mr. Hider thanked the commission for meeting at a special meeting. Mr. Hider made the <br />commission aware that he was planning on restoring the porch back as closely to its original <br />configuration. The craftsman style front porch had been closed in for a number of years, and <br />Mr. Hider noted that his house is pictured as an example of an inappropriate alteration in the <br />Design standards for the Historic District for the city of Paris on page 106. Mr. Hider has <br />researched the Paris Junior College Aikin Archives and the Lamar County Historic Museum <br />for a historic photo to help guide him on what would be appropriate for the district. Mr. Hider <br />presented a drawing of his proposed changes. Commissioner Dux asked Mr. Hider if he plans <br />on putting straight column style porch supports or a triangular tapered base made out of wood <br />and using a columns on the top of the base, in keeping with the craftsman style of the house. <br />Mr. Hider stated he planned on building triangular base out of wood and locating them in the <br />same place where there is evidence of the original base. Mr. Hider plans on leaving the <br />decorative medallion pieces in place above the porch. Mr. Hider stated the columns that were <br />in place were cut out and badly altered and were not structurally sound and needed <br />replacement. Mr. Hider asked the commission for recommendations. Commissioner Allcorn <br />noted there was no evidence of brick column bases. Commissioner Allcorn asked the <br />
