MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2015 <br />5:30 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by David Hamilton, Chairman at <br />S: 30 p. m. <br />Meeting was moved to the Fire Chief Conference Room in the City Hall building located at <br />13515` Street S. E. Paris, Texas 75460. <br />A. The following members were present: David Hamilton, Marilyn Smith, Jerry <br />Haning, Louise Hagood and Deanna Manning <br />B. Also present was John Godwin, City Manager; Ashley Fendley, City Staff; Caton <br />Hogan, Real Estate Project Manager for Love's Travel Stop and Cory Jones, Pastor <br />of the Christian Fellowship Church of Paris. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (November 3, 2015) <br />Motion was made by Louise Hagood, seconded by Marilyn Smith to approve minutes for <br />the November 3, 2015 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Love's Travel Stop & Country <br />Stores on behalf of Mark and Deborah Jones on Lot 2, City Block 307 -A, being located in the 3200 <br />Block of North Main. <br />A. To grant a variance of Section 28 -4 (b) (3) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that <br />"Detached signs shall not exceed thirty (30) feet in height above the highest adjacent roadway <br />surface. " The applicant has proposed the sign height to be 50 feet, which is 20 foot variance. <br />B. To grant a variance of Section 28 -4 (b) (2) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "The <br />sign area of detached signs shall be limited to one and one -half (1 %) square feet per front foot <br />of property upon which the same is placed. If the property on which the sign is located has <br />multiple right -of -way frontages, each street frontage shall be counted for purposes of <br />determining detached sign area A property shall be permitted more than one (1) detached <br />sign, provided no sign shall exceed three hundred (300) square feet in sign area " The <br />applicant has proposed 881.83 square feet of detached signage, which is 581.83 square foot <br />variance. <br />C. To grant a variance of Section 28 -4 (a) (2) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "The <br />sign area of attached signs shall be limited to one and one -half (I %) square feet per linear foot <br />
