Item No. 20 TO: Mayor & City Council John Godwin, City Manager FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT DATE: June 19, 2018 BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section 16-100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a Board of Adjustment consisting of five (5) mernbers, each to be appointed by resolution of the City Council for a term of two years," The City Council may appoint two alternate members of the Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular mernbers when requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. STATUS OF ISSUE: Currently the ten-ris of the five regular Board Members are expiring on June 307. We have received applications from the following: Benny Plata, Beverly Johnson, A.W. "Plug" Clem, David Hamilton (currently on the board), Chi -is Fitzgerald (currently on the board), Louise Hagood (currently on the board), and Brady Fisher, BUDGET: N/A RECOMMENDATION. Approve a Resolution making, appointments to the Board. In order for the terms to be staggered, it is recommended that three of the members be appointed to serve two-year ten-ris and two of the members be appointed to serve one-year terms.
