Item No. 20 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />DATE: June 19, 2018 <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment is created by State Law and codified under Section <br />16-100 of the City Zoning Ordinance. This Section states in part: "there is hereby created a <br />Board of Adjustment consisting of five (5) mernbers, each to be appointed by resolution of the <br />City Council for a term of two years," The City Council may appoint two alternate members of <br />the Board of Adjustment who shall serve in the absence of one or more of the regular mernbers <br />when requested to do so by the Mayor or City Manager. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Currently the ten-ris of the five regular Board Members are expiring on <br />June 307. We have received applications from the following: Benny Plata, Beverly Johnson, <br />A.W. "Plug" Clem, David Hamilton (currently on the board), Chi -is Fitzgerald (currently on the <br />board), Louise Hagood (currently on the board), and Brady Fisher, <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION. Approve a Resolution making, appointments to the Board. In order for <br />the terms to be staggered, it is recommended that three of the members be appointed to serve <br />two-year ten-ris and two of the members be appointed to serve one-year terms. <br />
