<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 97-005 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT <br /> THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING <br /> CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE II, OF SAID CODE TO ADD SECTIONS 25-19 THROUGH 25-24 <br /> THERETO; AMENDING THE PLUMBING CODE TO INCLUDE THEREIN PROVISIONS <br /> RELATING TO CROSS-CONNECTIONS AND BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES; <br /> PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL <br /> ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF FEBRUARY 1, 1997. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Chapter 25, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, <br /> Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> "ARTICLE II. PLUMBING CODE <br /> <br /> "Sec. 25-19. License required. <br /> <br /> "(a) Unless specifically exempt by the State Act (Section 3 of Article 6243-101 <br /> V.A.C.S.) as an act permitted to be done without a state license, no person, <br /> <br /> whether as a master plumber, journeyman plumber, or otherwise, shall engage in, <br /> work at, or conduct the business of plumbing in the City unless such person is the <br /> holder of a valid state license as required by the State of Texas under Article 6243- <br /> 101 V.A.C.S. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to engage <br /> in or work at the business of installing plumbing and doing plumbing work except <br /> as specifically herein provided unless such installation of plumbing or plumbing <br /> work is under the direct supervision and control of a plumber licensed under said <br /> Act. There shall be no more than four apprentices working under the direct <br /> supervision of each master or journeyman plumber (direct supervision shall mean <br /> that the apprentice is on the same job site and within sight of the license holder). <br /> <br /> "(b) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to engage in or <br /> work at the business of installing irrigation systems unless such installation of <br /> irrigation systems is under the direct supervision and control of a master or <br /> journeyman plumber in irrigation or installer licensed by the State of Texas under <br /> Article 6243-101 or Article 8751 of V.A.C.S. <br /> <br /> "(c) The licensing requirements described in subsections (a) and (b) of this <br /> section shall not be required for the testing, certifying, and repairing of backflow <br /> prevention devices by a certified Backflow Prevention Device Tester, as provided <br /> herein. <br /> <br /> "Sec.25-20. Definitions. <br /> <br /> "As used in this Article, the following words shall have the definitions ascribed <br /> to them by this Section: <br /> <br /> "Administrative Authority. The `Building Official' as defined in the Uniform <br /> Building Code. <br /> <br /> "Auxiliary water supply shall mean any water supply on or available to the <br /> premises other than the City's water supply, including water from another public <br /> water supply or any natural source such as well, spring, river, or `used waters' or <br /> `industrial fluids.' <br /> <br /> <br /> 1 <br />
