SEPTEMBER 14. 2005 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Acting <br />Chairman Brian Wear at 12:00 P.M. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The following members were present: <br />Barbara Wilson <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Jerry Raper <br />Paul Denney <br />Alternate: Becki Norment <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The following members were absent: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Ann Rodgers, Secretary <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Also present were Lisa Wright, Historic Preservation Officer, and <br />Bethany Golden, Main Street Coordinator. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Public hearing on the application for a demolition permit by Winkleman & <br />Associates for the building located at 530 Lamar Avenue. The public hearing <br />was opened. Michael Doggett of Winkleman & Associates was present on <br />behalf of Michael Clark and requested that the buildings in this area be <br />demolished to construct a new CVS Pharmacy. No opposition was present. <br />The public hearing was declared closed. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Consideration of and action on the application for a demolition permit by <br />Winkleman & Associates for the building located at 530 Lamar A venue. With <br />60% of the original building destroyed in a fire, Paul Denney did not think that <br />there was enough of the building left to necessitate the preservation of it in <br />its present condition. Barbara Wilson requested that a documentary <br />photograph of the building be archived. Motion was made to approve the <br />demolition permit by Paul Denney, seconded by Sue Lancaster. Motion <br />carried 7-0. <br /> <br />I <br />
