MINUTES
Paris Municipal Band Commission
A meeting of the members of the Paris Municipal Band Commission was held on
Monday, April 15, 2002, at 12 noon, in the boardroom of the Lamar County
Chamber of Commerce.
PRESENT
Randy Bunch
Linda Suarez
James Brunette
Edmond Castleberry
Albert Nichol
ABSENT
None
Also present were:
Tom Nuegent, Paris Municipal Band Director
Sally Wright, Parks & Recreation Supervisor, City of Paris
Patsy Daniels, Chairman, Crape Myrtle Committee
Chairman Edmond Castleberry called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.
As the first order of business, the minutes from the previous meeting held on
August 17, 2001, were unanimously approved as submitted on a motion by
James Brunette, seconded by Albert Nichol.
The annual budget for the Paris Municipal Band was reviewed. Discussion was
held on the following issues:
• Purchase of new chairs - Jim Brunette and Edmond Castleberry agreed to
visit with Mike Malone regarding purchasing chairs as opposed to our
borrowing them year after year. A problem has occurred with someone to set
up and tear down after each performance.
• Purchase of new stands - Tom Nuegent is going to check on the cost of
folding stands, which take up much less space than the large stands
borrowed from Paris High School Band Hall.
• Tom Nuegent will purchase new music for this band season.
• Transportation is an issue as the truck rental company is no longer in
business. Randy Bunch is checking into alternatives.
• A new sound system provider will be investigated by Randy Bunch and
Edmond Castleberry as the company used last year did not show up for all of
the performances. Kenny Daus and Paul Denney were recommended as
replacements.
• Musicians will be paid $25 per week that will include two practices and one
concert.
