Library Advisory Board
September 17, 2003

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
September 17, 2003

The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Jackie Alsobrook, Peggy Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer, Nancee Salzman,
Vickie Terlap and Walter Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon,
Library Director and Callie Thompson, Friends President. Sarah Gambill,
Anna Davis and Bill Kennedy did not attend.

The minutes from the August meeting were approved.

The date for next month's meeting has been changed to October 22
because of a conflict with the NETLS quarterly meeting.

Bill Kennedy will take Kevin Grey's place on the Board.

Betty introduced staff member, Paula Rater. Paula is a Clerk I and has
been on the staff for two years. Paula's main responsibility is to shelve
books. She does non-fiction, audio, videos, biographies and some
children's. She said that she also cleans up stray books at the end of the
day.

Betty presented board members this month's budget. Betty reported that
we're getting to the end of the budget year. She has spent her state money
within $.47 of what the library received. She reported that the book
budget was over slightly, but went under $7000 on the shelving project
which was originally taken out of her book budget; so, the library will be
under the total budget this year.

August statistics were slightly down from last August, but the library was
open an additional day the previous August. Otherwise, the numbers were
pretty normal.
