the house and they want to sell the house and Commissioner Alarid has made arrangements to <br />call and discuss purchase of the property. He also stated that he had talked to the Mayor about <br />abating the taxes instead of the house, and asked the commissioners if they thought that was <br />good. He stated that he had also talked to Tracy Pounders, the property attorney out of Dallas, <br />and try to get the house on the tax sales open to the public. He asked the commissioners to see <br />what they thought would be best for the property. He also states that the property hasn't been <br />secured. Motion was made by Commissioner Alarid to remove the property from the building and <br />standards order to demolish for the 180 days. Seconded by Commissioner Steely, motions <br />Carried 6 — 0 <br />Item C: 910 W. Cherry (structure behind the garage) Commissioner Knox made the motion to <br />send the structure to Building & Standards, Motion seconded by Commissioner Barbee, motion <br />carried 6 — 0 <br />Item D: 204 NW 241h Commissioner Steely researched the house and noted that in 2006 the <br />owner bought it and didn't pay taxes, and it was not put up for sale in their last sale. He noted <br />that someone was inside when he went by and said he thought it was homesteaded. He noted that <br />it had architectural significance for the area. Commissioner Steely made the motion to send the <br />structure to the Building and Standards Commission since it cannot be rehabilitated. Motion <br />seconded by Commissioner Barbee, motion carried 6 — 0 <br />Commissioner Steely made the comment he wished the Appraisal District could let the <br />commission know if some of the historic homes are in jeopardy. He thinks the houses could be <br />saved, and put back on the tax rolls instead of sold as a vacant lot after demolition. <br />4. Paul Denney presented the First United Methodist Church Youth Building Cross and Flame <br />logo signage: 322 Lamar Ave. Mr. Denney stated this was a part two of the original COA for <br />the FUMC youth building. He described the cross and flames were made of a reverse channel <br />metal, and the colors will be the colors of the Methodist Church red and black, and it was <br />noted that the Cross and Flames exceed the amount of signage that can be approved in house <br />in the historic district. A motion was made to approve the signage as presented by <br />Commissioner Alarid, seconded by Commissioner Conrad, motion carried 6 -0 <br />5. Review on Design Standards: Commissioner Dux informed the guest in the audience that <br />they are working on self - training and reviewing the design standards. <br />A. Commissioner David Alarid - Architectural Heritage and Development Pages <br />36 -39 Commissioner Alarid noted the four different periods 1845 —1877 houses <br />were made of had hue wood and wood siding, 1877 caused a complete change, <br />1877 —1916 gothic revival, after the 1916 fire new codes were brought in, and <br />then 1925 - 2017 the modern panels and the influence they had development of <br />Paris as listed in the Design Standards. She referred to the handouts given by <br />Commissioner Steely. <br />
