He did agree that <br />the back porch does need to be removed. <br />Randy Roam of 1734 Margaret Paris, TX spoke as to the condition of the house. <br />He owns two other properties on Margaret. He believes that the original house <br />is structurally sound but portions that have been added on are deteriorated. Renter was to come and talk to Mr. Talley and never did. Owner has <br />stated that he will be coming to Paris this summer but have not heard from him as <br />to when. <br />Don Wilson asked John Lestock if the city ordinance did not allow the city to <br />repair the structure and place a lien on the property. Mr. Lestock stated that he <br />does not recall the city ever repairing property. Mr. Zack Saffle stated that the <br />violation letter says the Commission can order the property owner to repair but <br />that the city only can vacate, secure, remove or demolish the structure. Mr. <br />Wilson asked Mr. Talley to look into the wording of the ordinance and possibly <br />changing the wording of the violation letter <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: since this property has appeared before the <br />Commission previously and the owner still has not made the necessary repairs to <br />begin assessing a civil penalty of $10.00 per day starting immediately. <br />Motion was made by Johnny Norris, seconded by Zack Saffle to follow <br />Robert Talley's recommendation to assess a civil penalty of $10.00 effective <br />immediately.
