Public Hearing to consider the petition of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for a change in zoning to include a Historic Overlay <br />District No. 5 (HD) on Lot 5, City Block 163, being located at 623 6th <br />Street SE. <br />The public hearing was declared open. <br />Arvin Starrett spoke in favor of the petition stating that this is a Second <br />Empire French Style home, the last remaining example of this type of <br />architecture in Lamar County and one of the few remaining examples <br />in this part of the State of Texas. It is probably one of the most <br />important structures in the City of Paris. Mr. Starrett encouraged the <br />passing of the designation with the understand of the commission that <br />it is with the blessing of the property owner. <br />There was no opposition, the public hearing was declared closed. <br />12. Consideration of and action on the petition of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for a change in zoning to include a Historic Overlay <br />District No. 5 (HD) on Lot 5, City Block 163, being located at 623 6th <br />Street SE. <br />Motion was made to approve as Historic Overlay District No. 5 (HD) <br />by Carl Lucas, seconded by Brad Archer. Motion carried by a vote of <br />8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />13. Public Hearing to consider the petition of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for a change in zoning to include a Historic Overlay <br />District No. 6 (HD) on Lot 3, City Block 248 -B, being located at 1970 <br />Clarksville Street. <br />The public hearing was declared open. <br />
