Planning and Zoning Meeting <br />August 3, 2004 <br />Page 17 <br />Arvin Starrett spoke in favor of the petition stating that this property <br />has already been named a State Historic Landmark and is on the <br />National Registry of Historic Places, one of the treasurers of the church <br />did appear at the hearing that the commission conducted and had <br />questions and the commission unanimously passed the designation for <br />this lot. <br />Lisa Wright, Director of Community Development for the City of Paris, <br />stated that elders of the church came to her office and picked up some <br />information from her and said that after they had met they decided that <br />they supported this designation. <br />There was no opposition, the public hearing was declared closed. <br />16. Consideration of and action on the petition of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for a change in zoning to include a Historic Overlay <br />District No. 7 (HD) on Lot 11, City Block 124, being located at 429 <br />Grand Avenue; Lots 13,14, and 15, City Block 124, being located at 410 <br />and 428 W. Kaufman; Lot 16, City Block 124, being located at 440 W. <br />Kaufman Street. <br />Motion was made to approve as Historic Overlay District No. 7 by Carl <br />Lucas, seconded by Benny Plata. Motion carried by a vote of 8 ayes and <br />0 nays. <br />17. Public Hearing to consider the petition of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission for a change in zoning to include a Historic Overlay <br />District No. 8 (HD) on Lot 1, City Block 118, being located at 357 W. <br />Kaufman Street. <br />The public hearing was declared open. <br />Arvin Starrett spoke in favor of the petition stating that this is the <br />Church of Christ side, directly across the street from First Presbyterian <br />
