MINUTES
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 1987
COX FIELD TERMINAL
. PARIS, TEXAS
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bill Booth at 6:00 P.M. The
following members were present:
Bill Boothe, Chairman
Jim Collier, Airport Manager
Eric Clifford
Joe Burress
Greta Greb
Members absent: J.W. Ashmore, Secretary.
The minutes of the January meeting were reviewed and approved as written.
OLD BUSINESS:
The refueling ordinance as put forth by the Paris City Council is
perceived to be discriminatory in that the ordinance requiring liabil-
ity insurance required for self- fueling an airplane is limited to tenants
or lease - holders at Cox Field.
Information given to the Advisory Board by Charlie Thomas, local insurance
agent, regarding aircraft liability insurance indicated that a possibility
of liability might exist if an individual refueled his or her own airplane.
However: AVEMCO has an exclusion if the wrong fuel is put in an airplane,
also unless an explosion takes place while refueling is in progress,
aircraft liability insurance would not cover it. This would be considered an
on premises liability situation.
Airplanes coming in and out would not be covered by Ordinance or gas being
brought on to airport and removed after fueling would not be covered.
A motion by Eric Clifford and 2nd'ed by Joe Burress to again recommend
the City either remove or modify said refueling ordinance on the grounds
that it is discriminatory and in non- compliance with F.A.A. The vote was
unanimous.
