Mrs. Ann Wilson of Wilson Oil Company, Paris, Texas, current supplier of fuel
and oil to the Airport, appeared. Mrs. Wilson quoted her Company's fuel prices
and also explained the advantages to the user when being supplied by a local
distributor of Mobil Oil.
Mr. Rex thanked Mrs. Wilson for her appearance. He then explained that the
Board could only recommend that bids be taken for the oil and gas. It was
not the job of the board, unless requested by Council, to decide which gas
company to recommend. Mr. Sudduth moved that the City begin to ask for bids
on aviation fuel and oil. Dr. Keller seconded the motion. The motion passed
4 -0.
OLD BUSINESS
Airport Promotion: Mr. Rex stated the Airport's location is going to be enhanced
by the addition of county water.
The Board agreed after discussion to take up Airport promotion at a workshop
on January 31.
Concept of Forming an Airport Authority: The Board decided to cover this at
a workshop in the future.
NEW BUSINESS:
New Permits: None
Effect of Agricultural Operations on Cox Field: Since Mayor Graham had not
been able to appear as he had hoped for this discussion and the Board felt
it needed his input, the matter will be the first item on the Agenda for a
workshop to be held on January 31, 1984.
Radio Tower: The Board discussed the question of whether a notice had been
posted of the construction of the tower owned by Airways Inc. southeast of
the Airport.
Zeb Smith, owner of the tower, gave the Board information as to the date his
company requested a permit for the tower construction and the subsequent
dates for follow up requests and permit issuances. Mr. Smith felt the Board
questioned his right to construct the tower.
The Board stated they were only concerned with whether Mr. Collier had
properly posted the tower construction application notice, as this was a
matter of pilot safety.
It was moved by Dr. Keller and seconded by Gene Sudduth that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion passed 4 -0.
