behind the homes on Briarwood is recommended to be low density residential, while the <br />eastern section behind Fairway is recommended for retail along with properties fronting <br />Collegiate Drive. The proposed property is currently accessible only by traveling through <br />the Springlake Estates Subdivision from Pine Mill Road. This is a single-family <br />residential neighborhood, and the amount of traffic along these streets will increase with <br />any development on the subject lot, but significantly more with a multi -family <br />development. Access is the greatest challenge, and should a development such as this be <br />approved, it would need direct access to a collector street such as Collegiate Drive or <br />Pine Mill Road. Pursuant to the existing zoning designation and the future land use, staff <br />recommends denying the request for a zoning change from Single Family Dwelling <br />District 2 (SF -2) to Multiple Family Dwelling (MF -1). <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />The following spoke in opposition of the petition noting concerns of increased traffic, <br />safety, disruption of neighborhood, deed restrictions, drainage issues, access, noise, <br />decreasing property value, no sidewalks, and removal of trees: <br />Wanda Stevens, 925 Fairway <br />Steve Ekstrom, 725 Medalist <br />Juan Garcia, 3005 Briarwood <br />Donna Burnett, 830 Bunker <br />Jenci Garcia, 815 Fairway <br />Wesley McKee, 835 Fairway <br />Margie McKee, 835 Fairway <br />Carol Hufnagel, 720 Bunker <br />Victor Bridewell, 925 Bunker <br />William Lancaster, 825 Fairway <br />Rodney Hood, 930 N Collegiate <br />Linda Fleming, 1040 N Collegiate <br />Sue Ross, 3095 Briarwood <br />Triniti Frazier advised commissioners that thirty-seven (37) Zoning Input Forms were <br />submitted in opposition of the petition. <br />The following spoke in favor of the petition: <br />Wayne Brown, 3055 NE 33' states that Crist & Elizabeth Pshigoda Foundation is trying <br />to expand more affordable housing for senior citizens. They have a large demand for senior <br />citizen housing which has gone from eight units to two -hundred units with locations on <br />Cherry, Bonham and Clarksville Street. Brown states that senior citizens have to be 60 <br />years or older to get into this type housing. They picked this location because it is close to <br />
