Commissioner Long, motion carried.
Thomas Nguyen submitted a proposed design on the Lamar Avenue that included removing
the existing rotten wood, and putting a base behind the structure. Mr Nguyen will cover the
backing with hardy board and decorative wooden trim to create a design. He will finish it
with a stucco mixture. Chairman Dux clarified that there is no transom windows existing
behind the wood. Chairman Dux asked that the vertical boards would have a balance by
putting two 3 ft. sections on either side of the cover. Commissioner Long made the motion to
approve the Certificate of Appropriateness as presented, with the exception that the ends of
the covering above the storefront be 3 ft. on either side instead of 4 on one side and 2 on the
other. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Coyle, Motion carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Matthews to approve the Tax Exemption application
for 7 E. Plaza, seconded by Commissioner Long, Motion carried.
Vanessa Munoz, owner of 726 W. Sherman submitted an application to repaint the exterior of
the house. Her application also requested to relocate a pair of double hung window, and
change it to a single window approximately 4 ft to the right of the existing pair. After the
single window is reinstalled, repurposed siding will be installed to blend with the existing
siding. The property owner is repairing the existing windows. There was some questions
about the repair of a chain link fence. Ms. Munoz stated that if she cannot repair it, she will
remove it. A motion was made by Commissioner Matthews to approve the Certificate of
Appropriateness to paint the structure, relocate the pair of window as presented on the
drawings submitted, and to repair or remove the fence. Motion was seconded by
Commissioner Coyle, Motion carried.
Josiah Daniel was present to represent Judy Daniel to discuss the Certificate of
Appropriateness application for 117 & 119 Clarksville St. The applicant is seeking approval
to rebuild the front fagade at the lower level. Chairman Dux asked Mr Daniel about the
missing transom windows, as he had seen a couple of different renderings of the front of the
property. Mr Daniel said he was reusing the windows. Chairman Dux reviewed the submitted
designs verbally to the applicant. The configuration will be as follows: single door, upright
divide, large picture/display window, upright divide and single door as presented in the
drawing. Mr. Daniel stated that he was going to use metal to support the awning and wrap it
with wood. Ms. Bedford had received a new drawing from Mr. Daniel the day before, and it
was reviewed by the commission as well. Chairman Dux ask the commission if they had any
questions. Hearing no questions, Chairman Dux asked for a motion. Commissioner Matthews
made a motion to approve as presented in the latest drawing, seconded by Commissioner
Coyle. Motion carried.
Chairman Dux asked the commission if there were any houses on the submitted list from
Code Enforcement they would want to request to be remove off the consent agenda.
A. 1225 Graham
B. 2320 W Cherry
