Regular Council Meeting January 23, 2023 Page 5 said on January Yd staff met with North Lamar ISD Board and there was one property owner who initially favored the revisions but since that time had changed his mind. Mayor Portugal inquired if the plan to go all the way to Lamar Avenue, from east to west and west to east was going away. Mr. Mack answered in the affirmative. Mayor Portugal expressed concern about putting more traffic onto 195 because 195 was already carrying a lot of traffic, as was spur 139. Mr. Mack said they had deleted 195 to Lamar. City Manager Grayson Path said this was a guide for future growth. Mayor Portugal suggested staff discuss this with TxDOT and hire a traffic engineer to review the plan. Council Member Pankaj agreed that they needed to engage a traffic engineer. Mayor Portugal said she was not comfortable with a plan until it was reviewed by a traffic engineer. Council Member Savage said he did not see what it would hurt to put another set of eyes on this. Mayor Portugal opened the public hearing and asked for anyone wishing to speak about this item to please come forward. Tommy Haynes said he and his family owned 120 acres that joined—'the North Lamar--ISD—property. He said—they were not aware oif (the new Master Thoroughfare Plan until North Lamar�was notified theit y would need to.xedraw their_ nev building plan. Motion tamed; 7 ayes e'presentatoxi regarding pPateox ''date funding inside the airport terminaField I to be constiucted and Council Member Pilgrim said he, Mayor Portugal and Council Member Pankaj had been trying to make the airport look better and they came up with the idea of placing an Eiffel Tower in the center of the terminal building. He said there were a lot of people who come into the airport. Council Member Pilgrim explained the project which included cost of $12,500.00 - $14,000.00, drawings, materials and construction. He said it would all be done with private funding. He asked Council if they would like to give input or help with raising funds. Council Member Pankaj said he would help with f ndraising. 27. Receive presentation from Solid Waste Solutions regarding outsourcing of solid waste collection, and provide direction to staff. Assistant City Manager Rob Vine said at the direction of City Council, staff began researching avenues by which the City could outsource its solid waste service. He said during this research, the staff was introduced to Solid Waste Solutions (SWS) and at the City Council meeting of November 14, 2022 City Council directed staff to bring SWS in for a presentation to City Council. Mr. Vine introduced Lyn Lantrip with SWS.
