Steve mentioned the desire for growing the volunteer list. Connie responded, stating that <br />the library has nearlytripled the volunteer numbers and she wished there was more for <br />them to do, Li ke help with progra m m i ng. <br />Myers asked what the legal issues with volunteers helping, and Connie replied, saying that <br />patron book history is private. <br />Steve mentioned that he would like for the library to extend its hours, to make it more <br />accessible to the public. Connie stated that the staff does not currently have a desire to do <br />that and that there must be a need for it. Steve asked if there could be a staff rotation for an <br />after-hours opportunity at the library. Connie said that she would love to use The Friends of <br />the Paris Public Library as trusted persons for an after-hours event at the library. <br />b. Goal4: Foster Innovation <br />i. Public technology skills <br />Connie states that while the library has public databases, the public at large isn't aware of <br />how to use or benefit from them. Currently, Connie is working on a slide show to be placed <br />on the televisions inside the library, showcasing what each database can offer. Connie <br />also stated that a tutorialwas recently added on the librarywebsite for how to use various <br />website options the library has. <br />DeEtte responded, saying that it is important for people to know that this information is <br />available to them but how can they know about it? Rob stated that the upcoming cable <br />access channelforthe city will help because the Librarycan run unlimited information on <br />that channel so more people can learn about the offerings available to them. <br />Connie also noted that when she was first hired, the library's Facebook page had about <br />1,000 likes and it now has roughly 2,800, which is great for public exposure. Connie would <br />also like a sign on the Square, noting any programs/activities going on at the library, so that <br />more people could be made aware of the library, just a short walk away. <br />Myers asked if it was possible to create a framework fora person offering a program that <br />can be built as a plug and play, to make it easierfor people to come. The board liked this <br />idea and Connie said that she would think about how that can happen. <br />V. Friends of the Library Report: <br />Myers spoke for the Friends and stated that the May 02 meeting went well at the <br />Country Club. Myers said that Audrey asked if the library needed anything prior <br />to the Summer Kickoff and Connie said she would get with Audrey. <br />V1. Director's Remarks: <br />a. Budget: <br />Connie stated that the budget might look the same but it's not. There is a <br />new web -based system, and she is currently working on the new budget <br />proposal right now. <br />b.
