STATUS OF ISSUE:
There was a soft spot and dip on Pine Mill Road across from Aikin Elementary. This has been a
problem for years, and we were able to correct this with an 8" deep grind and extra asphalt.
Pine Mill extra Digout: 8'x16' = 128 SF = 14.22 SY
$80/SY = $1137.60
$2500 Re -mobilization back to Pine Mill
Total : $3637.60
Pine Mill Road by School
12' SE — They had a large soft spot near the old railroad crossing (now a trail crossing). They
ground an extra 4", put back 4" of Type B Asphalt, then topped it with 2" of Type D Asphalt. 240'
long X 12' Wide = 2880 SF = 320 SY
320 SY X $40 = $12,800. R.K. Hall charged no extra mobilization here because they did it when
they were already there.
201h SE — There was no subgrade rock below the 2" of asphalt that had previously been paved in
the 1980's. They had paved over bare dirt. We did the same excavation as on 121b SE. 1000 SY
at $40/SY = $40,000. R.K. Hall charged no extra mobilization here because they did it when
they were still in the general area. A lot of side roads in Paris were likely paved like this, and we
predict similar failures in the future, unfortunately.
