Item No. 10 <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Mayor, Mayor Pro -Tem & City Council <br />Rose Beverly, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION, STATEMENT OF ELECTED OFFICER <br />AND OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />DATE: May 11, 2026 <br />BACKGROUND: On February 18, 2026, the City Clerk issued a certificate of unopposed <br />candidates for Districts 1, 2, 3 & 6. On February 23, 2026, by Ordinance Number 2026-003, <br />City Council declared candidates Stacy Ladell (District 1), Mickey Ellis (District 2), Gary <br />Savage (District 3), and Alix Putnam (District 6) as unopposed candidates and cancelled the <br />General Elections in Districts 1, 2, 3 & 6. <br />Mickey Ellis will not be taking the oath of office tonight, as he subsequently resigned because he <br />moved out of the district. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Pursuant to State Law, a certificate of election shall be issued to each <br />candidate who is elected to office; each elected officer shall execute a statement of elected <br />officer; and each elected officer shall take the oath of office prior to taking office. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: An oath of office will be administered to each elected officer. <br />
