number and item number is listed individually. This assists in preparing evidence for
court appearances and for final disposition.

Evidence By Storage Location - This report lists all items of evidence that should be
found in a particular bin or storage location.

Evidence Calendar - This report displays those items of evidence which have been
in custody for a certain length of time and for which no new activity has been
entered.

Reporting - The Evidence Status Report is a printed report which lists all items that are
of a particular status, and includes the description of the item, case number, location,
status, and control number. Such a report is useful for conducting inventory checks,
auditing, and preparing pick-lists for auctions.

Other printed reports may be produced using the IBM Query/400. This allows the user
to design and develop specialized reports which match unique criteria and may be
processed directly to the work station, to a printer, or to a data base file.

Major Investigations Module - Since law enforcement agencies are faced with the need to have
specialized capabilities to handle and manage intelligence information or to work with outside
agencies on a major investigation or narcotics task force, a capability has been developed to
address this requirement. The implementation of this feature allows access to the information
which needs to be shared with the outside agencies, but separates this information from other
records in the data base to provide the necessary security and privacy.

The basis of this feature is the ability for the user to cross reference times, dates, persons,
locations, property, .and vehicles. Utilizing searches and matching algorithms, the investigator
has the ability to ascertain patterns in the information received and to track leads in a major
investigation.

The data accumulated in this module may be merged into the regular data base after the need for
special security is over.

Mechanisms to establish new major investigative data bases are included. These can be
accomplished by user agency's staff.

Fingerprint System - The CMS system allows for the recording of fingerprints using the Henry
or NCIC category procedures. Query procedures allow for ~earches by fingerprint identification
based on entries. New search procedures are being developed which allow for the recall of
suspects based on either ten print classifications, or one or more fingers. Use of the Imaging
System allows for the recall of fingerprints on screens for the printout of the images.

Imaging Feature - Imaging is defined as the recording of digitized representation of documents
within an organization's operations. In public safety agencies, this includes such items as:

21
