Lamar County — Paris Economic Development Plan
Goal # 2 - Develop 500 acres of improved, approved industrial real estate
Economic development is ultimately a real estate transaction. The most important issue relative
to the "site selection" process is having an actual site.
12. Under the following schedule, Paris shall develop and expand a multi -use "industrial park,"
500 acres in size, which shall be marketed exclusively to qualified primary employers.
A. The Task: Within one year, PEDC will purchase additional land and continue
development of our existing industrial park.
B. The Task: Within one year, the horizontal development of the Paris Industrial Park
shall commence and criteria for the sale or lease of the land shall be established.
This task shall be assigned to: A special task force created by the PEDC.
Goal #3 - Educate the community on the need for a comprehensive economic development
program
13. In order for Paris and Lamar County to be successful, the community must be united and
supportive in this effort.
14. Few areas have been able to implement a successful economic development program without
the support of the "community."
A. The Task: Within three months of the adoption of the Plan, the community will be
provided with a series of presentations regarding the need for and the content of the
Plan.
This task shall be assigned to: PEDC.
B. The Task: On an annual basis, the community will be invited to participate in a
gathering to discuss the status of Plan implementation.
This task shall be assigned to: PEDC.
Paris Economic Development Corporation Page 5
