<br /> <br />96 <br /> <br />Advalorem and Poll Tax. <br /> <br />CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE. <br /> <br />ADV ALOREM AND POLL TAX. <br /> <br />AN ORaIN ANCE levying a-ivalor.-m and poll tax for the year ¡SSg. <br /> <br />, '- <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the dty coundl of the city of Paris.. <br /> <br />SEC. 1. That there is hereby levied for the year 1889, the <br />following taxes, to-wit: For paying the current expenses of the <br />city government of the city of Paris, a tax of 47 1-2. forty-seven <br />and one-half cents on each and everyone hundred dollars worth <br />of taxable property, situated in the city of Paris, and subject to <br />taxation; for supplementing the state school fund and to defray <br />the expenses in maintainining and carrying on the public school in <br />the city of Paris, a tax of 20, twenty cents; for paying interest and <br />creating a sinking fund for the city deb! bonds, a tax of 2 1-4, two <br />and one-fourth cents; for paying interest and creating a sinking <br />fund for the waterworks bonds of the city of Paris, a tax of ,18, <br />eighteen cents; for paying interest and creating a sinking fund for <br />the fire department and city prison bonds, a tax of 2 1-4, two and <br />one-fourth cents; for paying interest and creating a sinking fund <br />for the street improvemeut, bonds of the city of Paris, a tax of 10, <br />ten cents on each and everyone hundred dollars worth of taxable <br />property, situated within the city of Paris and subject to taxa~ <br />tion. <br /> <br />,'.'~' <br /> <br />SEC. 2. There is hereby levied a poll tax of one dollar for <br />said year of 1889, on each and every male inhabitant of the city of <br />Paris, (idiots and lunatics excepted) who was a resident of said <br />city on the first day of January, 1889, and who is over twenty-one <br />years and under sixty years of age. <br />SEC. 3. The taxes herein levied shall be collected as is pro- <br />vided by the ordinances and charter of the city of Paris. <br />SEC. 4. The levy of taxes in this ordinance for the payment <br />of interest and creating a sinking fund for the outstanding indebt- <br />edness is not intended to be in addition to the special levy made at <br />the time of creation of the debt for which it is levied, but is merely <br />for the purpose of collecting the levy in one place. <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />
