Parks and Recreation <br /> Public Works <br /> <br /> The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City <br /> parks, includil~g operation of the summer recreational programs. <br /> <br /> 44 <br /> Solid Waste Collection <br /> Public Works <br /> <br /> The Solid Waste C0ilec. tion Department is responsible for the collection and disposal of residential <br /> solid waste. <br /> <br /> 46 <br /> Streets and Highway <br /> Public Works <br /> <br /> The Streets and Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the <br /> streets and storm sewers. This department plans and implements a preventative maintenance <br /> program consisting of applying chip-seal to a portion of the streets, hot-mix overlay to several miles <br /> a year, and up grading a limited number of gravel streets. Unimproved streets are maintained in <br /> safe condition. In addition, storm sewers are cleaned and ditches are cut to provide for the run-off <br /> of storm waters. <br /> <br /> 48 <br /> Traffic and Public Lighting <br /> Public Works <br /> <br />.... The Traffic and Public Lighting Department is responsible for the .construction, operation and' <br /> maintenance of the City's traffic control devices. Pavement markings, signs and signals are <br /> maintained for the safe and efficient flow of traffic. The expense of operating street lights is funded <br /> through this department. <br /> <br /> <br />
