Provides shelter management, feeding at fixed facilities and through mobile units, <br />first aid, replacement of eyeglasses and medications, provision of basic clothing, <br />and limited financial assistance to those affected by emergency situations. The <br />Red Cross also provides feeding for emergency workers. <br />2) The Salvation Army. <br />Provides emergency assistance to include mass and mobile feeding, temporary <br />shelter, counseling, missing person services, medical assistance, and the <br />warehousing and distribution of donated good including food clothing, and <br />household items. It also provides referrals to government and private agencies <br />for special services. <br />3) Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief. <br />Provides mobile feeding units staffed by volunteers. Active in providing disaster <br />childcare, the agency has several mobile childcare units. Can also assist with <br />clean-up activities, temporary repairs, reconstruction, counseling, and bilingual <br />services. <br />4) RACES. <br />The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service provides amateur radio support for <br />emergency operations, including communications support in the EOC. <br />b. Business Support. <br />1) The list of businesses supporting emergency operations is continuously <br />changing. This list will be maintained and updated as new businesses come into <br />the area and old companies close or relocate. This information is on file at <br />American Red Cross, Lamar County Chapter and updated by the ARC Director. <br />VII. DIRECTION AND CONTROL <br />A. General <br />The City Manager is responsible for establishing objectives and policies for emergency <br />management and providing general guidance for disaster response and recovery <br />operations, all in compliance with the NIMS. During disasters, [he/she] may carry out <br />those responsibilities from the EOC. <br />2. The Emergency Management Coordinator will provide overall direction of the response <br />activities of all our departments.
