10. Confidential Information - Members shatl respect the co fidenti ity of <br />information concerning the property, personnel or affairs of the t wn. Th shal l <br />neither disclose confidential information without proper legal a thorizat n, nor <br />use such information to advance their personal, financial or other p vate int ests. <br />11. Use af Public Resources - Members shall not use public resoure s not a ilable <br />to the public in general, such as town staff time, equipment, supp ies or Tilities, <br />for private gain or personal purposes. <br />12. Representation of Private Interests - In keeping with their role stewar of the <br />public interest, members of any board or commission shall not pear o behalf <br />of the private interests of third parties before the any board, ommis ion or <br />proceeding of the town, nor shall members of any boards and co 'ssion appear <br />before their own bodies or before the board of commissioners on beh f of the <br />private interests of third parties on matters related to the areas of service f their <br />bodies. <br />13. Advocacy - Members shall represent the official policies or p sitions of the <br />appropriate board or commission to the best of their ability whe desig ted as <br />delegates for this puzpose. When presenting their individua opinioiis and <br />positions, members shall expiicitly state they do not represent th ir bod or the <br />Town of Wendell, nor wi 11 they allow the inference that they do. <br />14. Policy Role of Members - Members shall respect and adhere <br />o the c <br />uncil- <br />manager structure of Wendell town govemment as outlined by th <br />Wende <br />ll town <br />charter. In this structure, the Town Board of Commissioners <br />eterrn' <br />s the <br />policies of the town with the advice, information and analysis <br />ovided <br />by the <br />public, boards and commissians, and town staff. Except as provid <br />d by tffih <br />town <br />charter, members therefore shall not interfere with the administrat <br />ve func <br />ons of <br />the town or the professional duties of town staff; nor shall they imp <br />'r the at <br />iility of <br />staff to implement board of commissioners policy decisions. <br />15. Independence of Boards and Commissions - Because of t <br />independent advice of boazds and commissions to the public <br />process, members of the board of commissioners shall refrain <br />position to unduly influence the deliberations or outcomes of commission proceedings. <br />16. Posihve Work Place Environment - Members shall support the <br />positive and constructive work place environment for town en <br />citizens and businesses dealing with the town.
