Ti Stone presented the request on behalf of the First Baptist Church f r installation of a new playground. Mr. Stone stated that they did n t want children to cross 3rd Street, so the playground was to be b Ailt on the church proper with a 1' retaining wall with a cast iron fenc ' and landscaping. Chairman Starrett advised Mr. Stone that the fence ias not included on the application. Chairman Starrett informed the C mmission that he had spoken with the Texas Historic Commission, an they advised that, in the strictest sense by the Secretary of the Interio 's Standards, this type of playground is not appropriate at this 'location, but the Commission wants to work with the church. They made three recommendations: (1) that the front of the equipmen be set back as far under the loggia as possible; (2) that the equipm nt should be in a blond putty color to match the brick color of the bu ilding; and (3) that screening be placed to hide view of the equipme t from the street. Chairman Starrett asked Mr. Stone, if the Commissio n were to table this item, would he be able to get information about the ' nce and the color of the equipment by next month's meeting, and Mr. tone stated that he could. The Commission advised Mr. Stone that the would like to see a photo of the proposed fence and a drawing showi g how it relates to the building and how the landscaping would relate t the fence. Motion to table this item was made by Sue Lancaster, econded by Jerry Raper. Motion carried 7-0. Motion to allow Brian W ear to return to the meeting was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Jo rry Raper. Motion carried 7-0.
