The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Bell and carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004-028 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, GRANTING TO DAVID THOMPSON, DBA LONE STAR <br />CAB COMPANY, A FRANCHISE TO USE THE PUBLIC STREETS, <br />ALLEYS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF PARIS FOR THE PURPOSE <br />OF TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS FOR HIRE IN MOTOR VEHICLES <br />FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS, BEGINNING AUGUST 9, 2004 AND <br />ENDING AUGUST 8, 2007, UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS <br />HEREINAFTER PRESCRIBED; PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF <br />SAID BUSINESS, PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A TAX FOR <br />SUCH PRIVILEGE AND USE OF SUCH STREETS, ALLEYS AND <br />HIGHWAYS; PROVIDING FOR THE TERMINATION OF SUCH GRANT <br />UPON SPECIFIC CONDITIONS, PROVIDING FOR TAXICAB STANDS <br />FOR USE OF SAID GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC LIABILITY <br />INSURANCE ON THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT OF SAID <br />GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR THE SUPERVISION OF SAID BUSINESS <br />AND INSPECTION OF ITS VEHICULAR EQUIPMENT BY OFFICIALS OF <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, WAS PRESENTED. <br />Councilwoman Fisher made a motion to approve the ordinance which was <br />seconded by Councilman Poston. Councilman Bell asked if this wasn't the <br />person they discussed and tabled action on. City Attorney Schenk said at first, <br />the Council disapproved and then went back and approved at the same meeting. <br />City Attorney Schenk said he didn't know if Mr. Thompson was present tonite <br />or not. Mr. Schenk said he has been approved two times and this is the third <br />reading. The motion failed three ayes to four nays, Councilmen Guest, Wilson <br />and Bell and Councilwoman Wilkerson voting no. <br />
