Acceptance of inembers. <br /> <br /> The Fire Chief shall review all applicants <br /> for Fire Reserve Unit which have been recommended for <br /> membership by the Fire Reserve Unit, and he shall have <br /> final approval of inembership. All applicants will be <br /> investigated and may be subjected to physical exami- <br /> nation by a medical doctor designated by the Fire Chief. <br /> Sec. 12-107. Procedure following acceptance of new members. <br /> Each new member of the Fire Reserve Unit must <br /> satisfactorily complete ten (10) hours of training, <br /> approved by the Fire Chief, before responding to a fire <br /> call. After successfully completing the initial train- <br /> ing requirements, the new member shall be issued his <br /> fire fighting equipment and identification card. A new <br /> member must become certified in accordance with the re- <br /> quirements of the Texas Firefighters Association within <br /> the first two (2) years of inembership. <br /> Sec. 12-108. Member not to belong to other emergency <br /> organizations. <br /> <br /> No member of the Fire Reserve Unit shall belong <br /> to any other emergency-type organization such as the <br /> police reserves or sheriff's reserve. <br /> Sec. 12-109. Meetings. <br /> <br /> Regular meeting of the Fire Reserve Unit shall <br /> be held at least monthly at the Central Fire Station. <br /> Such meetings shall be presided over by the president <br /> or, in his absence, the vice-president of the Reserve <br /> Unit, under the supervision of the Fire Chief. To such <br /> an extent as possible, parlimentary rules shall be ob- <br /> served and proper order maintained. During these monthly <br /> meetings instruction will be had concerning the duties <br /> of the Fire Department. <br /> Sec. 12-110. Duty of inembers to attend meetings and devote <br /> time to fire activities. <br /> Each member of the Fire Reserve Unit must attend <br /> fifty per cent (50%) of the meetings during each quarter <br /> and, in addition, devote a rninimum of eight (8) hours <br /> per month to regular fire activity. Legitimate reasons <br /> for absences from meetings or failure to perform fire <br /> activities will be accepted, but no such absences or <br /> failures shall become habitual. Excuses from meetings <br /> or other details shall be cleared and passed upon by the <br /> president of the Fire Reserve and should be confined to <br /> such reasons as illness of the member or a member of his <br /> family, business, vacation out of the city, etc. Notice <br /> of absence should be given as far in advance as possible <br /> where a work schedule or other assignment is concerned. <br /> Sec. 12-111. Duty of inembers to wear uniform. <br /> Each member of the Fire Reserve Unit shall wear <br /> his uniform at all regular meetings, such other meetings <br /> as are scheduled in advance, and while performing duties <br /> pertaining to fire department activities. <br />
