Acceptance of inembers, <br /> <br /> The Director shall review all applicants <br /> for EMS Reserve Unit which have been recomznended for <br /> membership by the EMS Reserve Unit, and he shall have <br /> final approval of inembership. All applicants will be <br /> investigated and may be subjected to physical exami- <br /> nation by a medical doctor designated by the Director. <br /> Sec. 2-59. Procedure following acceptance of new members. <br /> <br /> Each new member of the EMS Reserve Unit must <br /> satisfactorily complete fifteen (15) hours of training, <br /> approved by the Director, before responding to an EMS <br /> call. After successfully completing the initial train- <br /> ing requirements, the new member shall be issued an <br /> identification card. A new member must become certified <br /> in accordance with the requirements of the Texas Depart- <br /> ment of Health for emergency medical technicians within <br /> the first two (2) years of inembership. <br /> Sec. 2-60. Meetings. <br /> Regular meeting of the EMS Reserve Unit shall <br /> be held at least monthly at the EMS Department. Such <br /> meetings shall be presided over by the Supervisor or, in <br /> his absence, the Shift Leader of the Reserve Unit, under <br /> the supervision of the Director. To such an extent as <br /> possible, parlimentary rules shall be observed and proper <br /> order maintained. During these monthly meetings instruct- <br /> ion will be had concerning the duties of the EMS Department. <br /> Sec. 2-61. Duty of inebers to attend meetings and devote <br /> time to EMS. <br /> Each member of the EMS Reserve Unit must attend <br /> fifty percent (50%) of the meetings during each quarter and, <br /> in addition, devote a minimum of eight (8) hours per month <br /> to regular EMS activity. Legitimate reasons for absences <br /> from meetings or failure to perform EMS activities will be <br /> accepted, but no such absences or failures shall become <br /> habitual. Excuses from meetings or other details shall <br /> be cleared and passed upon by the Supervisor of the EMS <br /> Reserve and should be confined to such reasons as illness <br /> of the member or a member of his family, business, vacation <br /> out of the City, etc. Notice of absence should be given <br /> as far in advance as possible where a work schedule or <br /> other assignment is concerned. <br /> Sec. 2-62. Duty of inembers to wear uniform, <br /> Each member of the EMS Reserve Unit shall wear <br /> his uniform at all regular meetings, such other meetings <br /> as are scheduled in advance, and while performing duties <br /> pertaining to EMS department activities. <br /> Sec. 2-63. Members subject to supervision by EMS officers. <br /> <br /> At all times when a member of the EMS Reserve <br /> Unit is accompanied by a member of the regular Emergency <br /> Medical Service Department, the member of the regular EMS <br /> Department will be the person in charge of the operation <br /> being accomplished. <br />
