Sec. 2-58. Acceptance of inembers, The Director shall review all applicants for EMS Reserve Unit which have been recomznended for membership by the EMS Reserve Unit, and he shall have final approval of inembership. All applicants will be investigated and may be subjected to physical exami- nation by a medical doctor designated by the Director. Sec. 2-59. Procedure following acceptance of new members. Each new member of the EMS Reserve Unit must satisfactorily complete fifteen (15) hours of training, approved by the Director, before responding to an EMS call. After successfully completing the initial train- ing requirements, the new member shall be issued an identification card. A new member must become certified in accordance with the requirements of the Texas Depart- ment of Health for emergency medical technicians within the first two (2) years of inembership. Sec. 2-60. Meetings. Regular meeting of the EMS Reserve Unit shall be held at least monthly at the EMS Department. Such meetings shall be presided over by the Supervisor or, in his absence, the Shift Leader of the Reserve Unit, under the supervision of the Director. To such an extent as possible, parlimentary rules shall be observed and proper order maintained. During these monthly meetings instruct- ion will be had concerning the duties of the EMS Department. Sec. 2-61. Duty of inebers to attend meetings and devote time to EMS. Each member of the EMS Reserve Unit must attend fifty percent (50%) of the meetings during each quarter and, in addition, devote a minimum of eight (8) hours per month to regular EMS activity. Legitimate reasons for absences from meetings or failure to perform EMS activities will be accepted, but no such absences or failures shall become habitual. Excuses from meetings or other details shall be cleared and passed upon by the Supervisor of the EMS Reserve and should be confined to such reasons as illness of the member or a member of his family, business, vacation out of the City, etc. Notice of absence should be given as far in advance as possible where a work schedule or other assignment is concerned. Sec. 2-62. Duty of inembers to wear uniform, Each member of the EMS Reserve Unit shall wear his uniform at all regular meetings, such other meetings as are scheduled in advance, and while performing duties pertaining to EMS department activities. Sec. 2-63. Members subject to supervision by EMS officers. At all times when a member of the EMS Reserve Unit is accompanied by a member of the regular Emergency Medical Service Department, the member of the regular EMS Department will be the person in charge of the operation being accomplished.
