materials beyond the limits of the work shall <br />be such as to avoid spilling or wasting of <br />materials along the line of haul. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall immediately clean up all <br />materials spilled or wasted along the line of <br />haul. The OWNER reserves the right to approve <br />the location and methods of disposal for <br />surplus material. <br />2.2.8 USE OF FIRE HYDRANT AND VALVES <br />The CONTRACTOR shall not operate any fire <br />hydrant or valve in the existing water system <br />without the permission of the OWNER. If <br />permission is granted, the CONTRACTOR shall <br />use only approved fire hydrant and valve <br />wrenches. The OWNER shall inspect all fire <br />hydrants and/or valves operated by the <br />CONTRACTOR prior to final acceptance of the <br />project. All repairs or replacements required <br />to restore satisfactory operation of fire <br />hydrants and/or valves shall be at the expense <br />of the CONTRACTOR. <br />2.2.9 CONNECTIONS <br />The connections of conduits or appurtenances <br />to conduits shall be made in accordance with <br />the plans and as directed by the OWNER. This <br />work shall be done in such a manner so as not <br />to damage any of the structures involved. No <br />connecting conduit shall project beyond the <br />inside surface of other conduits or <br />appurtenances, except in case of pipe laid <br />through a manhole. <br />2.2.10 GR.ADES <br />The grade line shown on the profile is the <br />elevation of the invert or flow line of the <br />conduit. The OWNER shall establish bench <br />marks, base lines and other principal control <br />points for use in the construction. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall at his own expense establish <br />all working or construction lines and grades <br />as required and determined from the base <br />measurements and control points set by the <br />OWNER; and shall be solely responsible for the <br />accuracy thereof. Where ever an offset needs <br />to be over 10 feet, the CONTRACTOR shall be <br />required to furnish a survey type tripod level <br />$2 <br />
