Where construction operations <br />require the removal of the OWNER's stakes, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall reference such points in an <br />approved manner. If they cannot be <br />referenced, the CONTRACTOR must obtain <br />authorization for their removal. In the case <br />of theix destruction or unauthorized removal, <br />they shall be replaced by the OWNER at the <br />CONTRACTOR's expense. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall notify the OWNER 48 hours <br />prior to the beginning of construction to <br />allow the OWNER sufficient ti.me to stake the <br />alignment . Where the starting point is an <br />end of an existing pipe, the CONTRACTOR shall <br />uncover the same; and the OWNER shall then <br />provide the CONTRACTOR with grade stakes <br />unless otherwise specified. <br />The full responsibility for holding to <br />alignment and grade shall rest upon the <br />CONTRACTOR. <br />The lines and grades shall be set by the <br />OWNER, as the work progresses, in such a <br />manner as to cause the least possible <br />inconvenience in the prosecution of the work. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall so stockpile excavation <br />and other materials as to cause no <br />inconvenience in the use of the lines and <br />grades given. The CONTRACTOR shall remove any <br />obstruction created by him contrary to this <br />provision. <br />If a profile is not furnished for a water <br />main, the main shall be as constructed with a <br />minimum cover as follows unless directed <br />otherwise by the OWNER: 4" through 12", 4211, <br />and other sizes as shown on the drawings. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall keep the OWNER informed at a <br />reasonable time in advance as to his need for <br />line and grade. When necessary, working <br />operations shall be suspended for such <br />reasonable time as the OWNER may require for <br />the establishment of the same. <br />83 <br />
