Section 20. ELECTRICAL SIGNS. All classes of electric signs whether of <br />the gas tube, sign receptacle or reflector type, including gas tube window signs <br />and outside building outlining shall be considered electric signs wi.thin the mean- <br />ing of this ordinance. Portable inside displays or small, signs using self-con- <br />tained transformf.rs wi.th current consum-otion not to exceed 200 watts may be <br />connected by attachment plug to present circuit providing all othErrequirements of <br />this ordinance are complied with. <br />All signs must be on separate circuits in conduit from the distributing panel <br />and not more than 1320 watts will be allowed on each circuit. A.11 signs except <br />portable signs must be grounded directly to the conduit service. <br />All signs m:zst bear the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.,, inspection label <br />or shall be inspected and approved by the Electrical Inspector before being in- <br />stalled. <br />When an electric sign is to be hung over the sidewalk there must be a <br />clearance of eight (8) feet from the sidewalk to the lowest point of the sign and no <br />sign shall extend to wi.thin two (2) feet of the curb line of sidewalk, except by spe- <br />cial permi.ssion of the Electrical Inspector. <br />Section 21, TEMPORARY PERMiTS. Upon application therefor the Elec- <br />trical Inspector may, in his discretion, issue a temporary permit authorizing <br />the connection of service to any building or electrical installation for a period not <br />to exceed ten (10) days in cases where the immediate connection of such service <br />is by him considered necessary, desirable and reasonably safe, provided that it <br />appears that applicant for such temporary permit can and wzll qualify for a regular <br />permi.t under the provisions of this ordinance within a reasonable length of time. <br />A fee of Two ($2.00) Dollars shall be paid by the applicant for any such temporary <br />perm?.t and the same may be renewed from time to timP for periods not in excess <br />of ten (10) days, at the discretion of said Eiectrical Inspector, provided that no <br />fee shall be charged for any such renewal. <br />Section 22. CONDEMNATIQN. If, in the judgmrnt of the Electrical <br />Inspector after inspection, any electrical installation is unsafe or dangerous to <br />persons or property9 the Inspector shall have the power to cause such electrical <br />installation to be disconnected from the source of electrical energy supplying the <br />same, in wnich event he shall notify the Texas Power & Light Company of such <br />action. Thereafter, it shall be unlawful for any person to cause or perm?.t <br />electric current to be supplied to such electrical installation until the same shall <br />have been made safe and the Inspector shall have issued a certificate of approval <br />to that effect. <br />When the Eiectrical Inspector condem.:,.s alI or any part of any electrical <br />installation, the owner may, within five days after receiving written notice <br />thereof, file a petition in writing for review of said action of the Electrical <br />Inspector by the Electrical Board, such petition to be filed with the Director of <br />Public Works, and upon receipt of such petition the Di.rector of Public Works <br />shall arrange for a meeting of said Board and said Board shall make a decision <br />in accordance with its findings within seven (7) days after the filing of such peti- <br />tion, which decision shall be final. <br />Section 23. E.LECTRICAL BOARa. There is hereby created an Electrical <br />Board, which shall consist of five members, one of whom tihall be the Fire <br />Marshal of the City of Paris, one shall be an electrical contractor licensed under <br />this Cardinance, one shall be a journeyman electrician w11o holds a certificate of <br />registration under this Ordinance, one shall be an owner of rental property within <br />the fire limits of the City of Paris, and :)ne shall be a general building contractor <br />engaged inthe general construction business in the City of Paris. All such Board <br />Members, except the Fire Marshal, shall be appointed by the City Council and <br />shall hold office for a period of two years from the date of their appointment and <br />qualification, or until their successors have been appointed and qualified. <br />
