City MiLnager and shall perform the duties imposed upon him by this ordinance <br />under the supervision and direction of the Director of Pablic Works. <br />Section 8. AUTH4RITY OF ELECTRIC.AL INSPF,CTORe The Eiectrical <br />Inspector shall have ful police power and shall have the right to arrest any person <br />who violates any of the regulations of this ordinance. It shall be the duty of any <br />member of the Police Department to assist the Electrical Inspector in the exercise <br />of such police power upon request of said Electrical Inspector. <br />The Electrical Inspector shall have the right during reasonable hours to <br />enter any building or premises in the discharge of his official duties for the purpose <br />of making any inspectionp re-inspection or test of electrical equipment or installa- <br />tions thereat or therein. WJ.ien any electrical equipment is found by an Inspector <br />to be dangerous to persons or property because it is defective or improperly in- <br />stalled, the person, firm or corporation owning the electrical equipment shall be <br />notified in writing and shall have any changes or repairs made as required by the <br />Electrical Inspector, wnich will place such equipment in safe condition. If such <br />work is not completed wi.thin the period specified by the Inspector in the notice, <br />the Inspector shall have the authority to disconnect or order the disconnection of <br />electric service to the dangerous electrical equipment. In cases ofanergency, <br />when necessary forsakty to persons or property, or when electrical equipment may <br />interfere with the work of the Fire Department, the Senior Oificer of the Fire <br />Department at the site shal.l have the authority to immediately cause the disconnec- <br />tion of any electrical equipment. <br />Section 9. SPECIAL PERMISSION, The Electrical Regulations of this Code <br />may be modified or waived by special permission in particular cases where such <br />modification or waiver is reasonable, does not differ from the intent of the ordi- <br />nance, and does not create an injustice. Such permission shall in all cases ba <br />obtained from the Electrical Inspector in writing prior to starting the work, and a <br />copy of the permission shall be filed in the office of the Director of Public Works. <br />Section 10, ELECTtZICAL CONTRACTOR: LICENSE REQUIRED, The term <br />"ELEC-TRICAL CO'.VTRACTOR" as used in this Ordinance is defined to mean and <br />include any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of, or holding <br />themselves out to the public as being engaged in the business of installing or re- <br />pairing, or contracting to install or repair any electrical wiring, conduits, fix- <br />tures, devices, apparatus and equipment for carryingp using or consuming elec- <br />trical energy for which a permit is required by the provisions of this Ordinance. <br />y2?JALIFICATIONS. Before any person, firm or corporation shall engage in <br />the business of El.ectrical Contractor as defined herein, application shall be made <br />to the Eiectrical Inspector for license. The applicant shall then be required to <br />appear before the Eiectrical Board and be exami.ned as to his qualifications to do <br />electrical work. Any such applicant tnust make a grade of seventy (70) per cent <br />on the examination given by the Board before being entitled to receive a license. <br />Before a license shall be granted to an applicant as an Electrical Contractor as <br />defined in this ordinance, a fee of $100. 00 shall be paid to the City of Paris, Texas <br />for the first years license, or any portion of a years license, and all licenses <br />granted hereunder shall expire at midnight of June 30th follow-Lng the date of issu- <br />ance of the license, and thereafter each year on June 30th, as long as such license <br />is in force and effect. That said license shall expire on midnight of the next <br />succeeding June 30th after issuance, unless sooner revoked as herein provided, <br />and annually thereafter the same may be renewed and extended for an additional <br />period of one (1) year by such licensee upon payment to the Director of Public <br />WfDrks of the City of Paris of an annual renewal fee of Twenty-Five ($25. 00) <br />Dozlars, at any time .within fifteen (15) days after the expiration date, provided <br />the surety bond herein required remains and continues in full force and effect. <br />Each applicant shall execute and deliver to the City Clerk for approval a bond in <br />the sum of $500. 00, having as surety thereon a recognized surety company au- <br />thorized to do business in this State, said bond to be conditioned for the faithful <br />work for all work entered upon or contracted for in strict accordance wzth the <br />terms and requiremE:nts of this ordinance.
