(3) After the plumbing fi.xtures ha.ve beon set and their traps <br />filled with water, the entire drainage system shall be inspected and <br />where required by the City Plumbing Xnspector, shall be submitted to a <br />final test. <br />(4) The City Plumbing xnspector may require the removal of <br />any cleanouts or plugs on any test to ascertain if the pressure has reached <br />all parts of the system. <br />(5) The equipment, material, power, and la.bor necessary for <br />required inspections and tests, ahalt be furnished by the plumber. <br />(b) TESTING OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM, <br />(1) Water Test. The water test may be applied to the drainage <br />system in its entirety or in sections. If applied to the entire system, all <br />openings in the piping shall be tightly closed, except one opening which <br />shall be not less than two (2) feet above the highest fixture in the build- <br />ing, and the system filled with water to the point of overflow at said <br />opening. If the system is tested in sections, each opening sha.ll be tightly <br />plugged except the highest opening of the section under test, which opening <br />shall be not less than two (2) feet above the highest fixture in the building, <br />and each section shall be filled with water to the point of overflow at said <br />opening. The water shall be kept in the system, or the portion under <br />test, for at least fifteen (15) minutes before the inspection starts; and the <br />system shall be tight at all points without leakage. <br />(2) Air Test, The air test shall be made by attaching an air <br />compressor or testing apparatus to any suitable opening and after closing <br />all other inlets and outlets to the system, forcing air into the system <br />until there is a uniform gage pressure of five (5) pounds per square inch <br />or sufficient to balance a column of rnercury ten (10) inches in height. <br />This pressure shall be held without the introduction of additional air for <br />a period of at least fifteen (15) nninutes. <br />(3) Gas pipes and connections sha.ll be required to hold ten (10) <br />pounds or more air pressure without loss for fifteen {15} minutes. In- <br />spections or test shall be made after completion of building and imme- <br />diately prior to placing of ineter by the gas company. <br />Section 21. All extensions to work in buildings shall be done and in- <br />spected as required for new work by the term of this Ordina.nce. <br />Section 22. When soil or waste pipes are placed in buildings for <br />future use, or where there are no sewer connectiona to be had, the <br />necessary ventilation and drain pipes shall be put in and the work in- <br />spected as if for immediate use; all openings not in use must be closed, <br />either calked or soldered. <br />Old house plumbing can be cannected with the sewer only when it is <br />found upon examination by the City Plumbing InBpector to conform in all <br />respects to the requirements governing plumbing. <br />Section 23. A house or building, as such terms are used in this <br />Ordinance shall include any structure enclosed by walls and covered with <br />a roof. <br />
