<br /> <br /> <br />Dogs and Bitches. <br /> <br />CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE. <br /> <br />DOGS AND BITCHES. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE regulahng dog's and bitches running at large. <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the city council of the city of Paris: <br /> <br />SEC.!. That there is hereby levied upon each and every dog <br />and bitch, owned or harbored within the limits of the cit) of Paris, <br />an annual tax of one dollar on each dog, and two dollar3 on each <br />bitch, which tax is due and payable whenever such animals are <br />found within the city limits, and the tax, when paid, shall be good <br />only for the calendar year in which it is paid, and it is hereby <br />made the duty of every owner of any dog or bitch, or anyone who <br />shall harbor or keep any dog or bitch within the limits of the city <br />of Paris, to pay to the tax assessor and collector the said tax each <br />calendar year, and get a metal tax paid tag, and ,any person own- <br />ing, or harboring, or keeping any dog, or bitch, who fails to com- <br />ply with the provisions of this section, shall be deemed guilty of a <br />misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not <br />less than the tax due nor more than five dollars for each and every <br />offense. <br />S:¡¡:c. 2. It shalJ be the duty of the tax assessor and collector <br />to furnish each person paying the tax on his dog or bitch, with a <br />metal tag, on which is stamped the words, "tax paid i" and also <br />\ <br />the figures showing the year for which the tax is paid, which metal <br />tag shall be securely attached to a collar around the neck of the <br />dog or bitch p~id for, and shall be kept so attached at all times <br />during the year for which the tax is paid. <br />SEC. 3, It shall be unlawful for any dogs or bitches to run at <br />large at any time, within the limits of the city, of Paris, unless the <br />tax has been paid upon such dogs or bitches, and the payment is <br />so indicated by the metal tag, as prescribed in section 2 of this or- <br />,dinance. <br /> <br />SEC. 4.
