<br /> <br />78 <br /> <br />Dogs and Bitches. <br /> <br /> <br />claimed and redeemed within forty-eight hours after its capture <br />and impounding, then such dog or bitch shall be killed. The city <br />marshal, any policeman, or any other person, shall have the right <br />to shoot or kill any rabid dog or bitch, anywhere within the city <br />limits, or to shoot or kill any dog or bitch found in the streets, <br />which shall manifest a diposition to bite, or which shall manifest a <br />dispo~ition to frighten wornen or children. <br />SEC. 5. The owners of any dog or bitch captured and im- <br />pounded under the provisions of this ordinance, shall have the <br />right to redeem such animal at :my time within forty-eight hours <br />after its capture,. and receive possession of the same upon the pay- <br />ment of one dollar and fifty cents to the city marshal for each dog <br />or bitch so redeemed, together with the tax that may be due, if <br />ány is due, and when the tax is collected by the marshal under <br />this section, he shall pay the same over to the assessor and collec- <br />tor, and the owner of the dog or bitch shall receive a metal tag as <br />prescribed in section 2 of this ordinance. <br />SEC. 6. It shall be the duty of the city marshal and each po- <br />liceman of the city, whether regular or special policeman, to see <br />that this ordinance is strictly enforced, provided that this ordinance <br />shall not apply to dogs or bitches following countrymen or stragers <br />temporarily in the city. <br />SEC. 7. That all ordinances and parts of ordinance in con- <br />flict with this ordinance, and all ordinances requiring a muzzle for <br />dogs, be and the same are hereby repealed. <br />SEC. 8. That this ordinance take effect and be in force from <br />and after its passage and publication, and after July 1, 1889' <br />This ordinance was adopted June the 10th, 1889' <br />Attest, M. J.
