SHAL AND POLICEMEN. <br /> CIT' <br />AN OI1DINANCE to prescribe the ,reties of the city marshal, deputies and policemen. <br /> S~cT~o~ ~. It shall be the duty of the city marshal to attend <br />all meetings of the city council, and preserve orderwhen requested <br />to do so, and attend upon the mayor's court aud upon all trials <br />thereiu, and to preserve order in said court and to execute all pro- <br />cess issued out of or by said court, <br />,, SEC. z. It shall be the duty of the city marshal, his deputies <br />aud all policemen to patrol the city, preserve peace and good or- <br />der and to arrest without warrant all persous violating any city or- <br />dinance when committed within their presence or their view, and <br />it is hereby fnrther made the duty of the city marshal, his depu- <br />ties and policemen when they have made an arrest, and if the per- <br />sou arrested be sober, and the arrest is made in the day time dur- <br />lng business hours, to immediately take such person before the <br />mayor'~ court for trial. But if the person be drunk when arrested, <br />or the arrest is made in the night time. or after the regular busi- <br />ness hours of the court have closed, in that event the city marshal, <br />his deputies and policemen shall hold the prisoner in custody and <br />in default of bail. may commit him to the city prison until the <br />next morning, duty to keep ~}~ <br /> SEC. 3' The city marshal shall have power in. all cases . <br />where the prisoner is entitled to bail, to take bond for his appear- <br />ance before the mayor's court, <br /> S~c. 4' The marshal shall control the police force of thi~ <br />city, mid shall be chief thereof, regulating their beat or beats, and <br />the time ~vhen each policeman shall rna or be on duty; provided, <br />that the actiou of the marshal in thi ecl shall be subject to the <br />revision and approval of the city coimcil, <br /> <br /> <br /> SEC. 6.
