City; that arnbuiance servs_ce form points outside the County <br />to any clestinatiori shall be r.lade at the prerogative of City <br />and shall rot be covered by this contract. <br />13, The County agrees ta pay to the City torty per <br />cent (407,) af the actual, cost of providing emergency and <br />transfer ambulance service, to be computed through the last <br />day of this contra.ct an a cash basis, with the County making <br />monthly payments of $9,800.00 monthly towards the estimated <br />13 mcrth terrn cost af $318.500.00. The first of said <br />rlonil-hly payments to be made on the lst day of September, <br />1983, with <i like payment: being made on the first day of <br />each month the reaf ter . <br />14. This agreement shall be effective and the term <br />thereaf shall commence on the lst day of September, 1983, <br />and shall_ expired on the 30th day of September, 1984. <br />15. lt is further understood and agreed that neither <br />the County nor any ot its agents, servants or employees <br />shall be considered to be in the business ot providing <br />ambulance service, and the retatianship between the parties <br />shail not be considered to be that of a partnership or joint <br />venture, and that the status ot the City shall be that ot an <br />independent contractor providing services to the County and <br />its inhabitants in exchange tor the payment of amounts <br />herein set fortli. <br />16. 1t is mutuaZly understood and agreed between the <br />parties that the payments made by the County to City sha11 <br />in rlo way aftect the right of City to collect the charges <br />hereinafter set out in Paragraph 17 from persons for ambu- <br />lan.ce servi_ce ren.dered, ar.d it is expressly understood and <br />agreed that no one shall_ be entitled to free ambulance <br />service under this contract, and diligent efforts shall be <br />made to collect accounts outstanding in keeping with good <br />and ethical business practices. <br />17.
