Paris Santa Fe-Frisco Depot Rehabilitation 0 K[YSTONE AgCHITECTS <br /> July 10, 2001 <br /> <br /> PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> <br /> 2.01 MATERIALS <br /> <br /> A. Asbestos Prohibition: No asbestos containing materials shall be used under this section. <br /> The Contractor(s) shall insure that all materials incorporated in the project are <br /> asbestos-free. <br /> <br /> B. Yard fill shall be select on-site or imported material and shall be non-expansive, free from <br /> debris, perishable or combustible materials, sod, stones larger than 6-incbes in maximum <br /> dimension. <br /> <br /> C. Structural Fill: New structural fill shall be select on-site material or select imported <br /> borrow material. Select on-site material shall be non-expansive material free of <br /> boulders, debris, or rocks greater than 3 inches in maximum dimension. The select <br /> on-site material shall be approved by the Engineer. Select imported borrow material <br /> shall be well-graded, non-expansive material, all free from debris, with a plasticity <br /> index less than 20. The material shall have not more than 20 percent soil by weight <br /> passing the No. 200 sieve. The P. I. of that portion of soil passing the ~¢0 sieve <br /> shall not be greater than ten(10). Submit laboratory test results of select imported <br /> borrow material for approval by the Engineer. <br /> <br /> D. Cushion fill under concrete shall consist of a four inch layer of lightly compacted clean <br /> gravel such as #3 Fine gravel, or equivalent, (ASTM Size 67), and compacted to level <br /> surface. The gravel shall be rehfively uniform (poorly graded) and relatively free of <br /> fines with no more than 2 percent passing the No. 200 sieve. An impermeable <br /> membrane shall be provided over the gravel as a vapor barrier. A minimum of 2 <br /> inches of clean sand shall be provided between the membrane and the slab to protect the <br /> membrane during construction and promote even curing of the slab. <br /> <br /> E. Imported topsoil shall be fecdle, friable soil of loamy character, free from subsoil, debris, <br /> stones and as ai~pwved by the Engineer. Topsoil excavated in connection w/th the <br /> construction of the project may be used in lieu thereof. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 LAYING OUT <br /> <br /> A. The laying out of baselines, establishing of grades and staking out the entire work shall be <br /> performed by a licensed Surveyor or Civil Engineer (licensed in the State of Texas) at <br /> the expense of the .Contractor(s) and Contractor(s) shall be solely responsible for then' <br /> accuracy. The Contractor(s) shall erect and maintain substantial batterboards showing <br /> construction lines and levels. <br /> <br /> B. Should any discrepancies or conflicts be discovered in the dimensions given in the <br /> Drawings and/or Specifications, the Contractor(s) shall immediately notify the <br /> Engineer before proceeding any further with the work, otherwise, he will be held <br /> responsible for any costs involved in correction of construction placed due to such <br /> discrepancies. <br /> <br />3.02 SITE PREPARATION <br /> <br /> A. Prior to the start of the grading operations, the areas designated for new construction shall <br /> be cleared of all above-ground vegetation and other deleterious materials, which shall <br /> Section 02100 <br /> Page 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
