Concrete Aggregates: Concrete Aggregates shall conform to the Specifications for <br /> Concrete Aggregates, ASTM C-33, latest version. The maximum size for concrete <br /> aggregate shall be not larger than 1 _ inches for slxuctural concrete or slabs on grade <br /> and _ inches for concrete fill over formed decks, capping slabs or pea gravel finish. <br /> Concrete aggregate for walkway slabs shall match aggregate used in existing <br /> original walkways in size, color and shape. <br /> <br /> 3. Water: Water shall be clean, potable and free of injurious amounts of acids, alkalis <br /> or organic materials. <br /> <br /> 4. Ready Mixed Concrete: Ready Mixed Concrete shall conform to ASTM <br /> Specifications C-94, latest version. <br /> <br /> 5. Expansion Joints (if shown). Pre-molded joint filler shall consist of asphalt, <br /> vegetable fiber and mineral filler between two sheets of asphalt saturated paper and <br /> shall meet the requirements of ASTM Specification D-994, latest version. <br /> <br /> 6. Admixture. Chemical compounds shall be used as an admixture to con~xol plastic <br /> shrinkage, improve workability and enuain 3% to 5% air for normal weight concrete. <br /> The admixtures shall contain no chlorides, fluorides or nitrates and shall be <br /> formulated by the manufacturer for the job area and weather conditions to control <br /> setting time. Admixtures shall conform to ASTM Specification C-260 and C-494, <br /> latest version. The admixtures intended for use shall be submitted to the Engineer <br /> for approval before any actual mix is made. <br /> <br /> B. Forms <br /> <br /> 1. Lumber: All lumber and plywood used in the construction of forms for concrete <br /> shall be sound, clean and free of surface imperfections, and of sufficient size and <br /> thickness to rigidly support the loads involved. <br /> <br /> 2. Plywood: Form plywood shall be sound and free of surface imperfections, and shall <br /> be manufactured with exterior glue suitable for use in forming concrete. <br /> <br /> 3. Accessories: Form ties, clamps and other accessories shall be of such type, size, etc. <br /> as will safely support the loads to be encountered. Accessories on exposed faces <br /> shall be such as will not leave exposed metal on concrete face. <br /> <br /> 4. Form Coating: Equal to A.0. Horn Formfilm or Sonneborn Formsaver. <br /> <br /> C. Reinforcing Steel <br /> <br /> 1. Quality Standards. Concrete reinforcement shall meet the following applicable <br /> specification with latest versions, ASTM Designations: <br /> <br /> A-615 Standard Specifications for Deformed and Plain Billet Steel Bars for <br /> Concrete Reinforcing. <br /> <br /> A-82 Standard Specifications for Cold-Drawn Steel Wire for Concrete <br /> Reinforcement. <br /> <br /> Section 03300 <br /> Page 2-6 <br /> <br /> <br />
