Paris Santa Fe-Frisco Depot Rehabilitation 0 KEYSTONE ARCHITECTS <br /> July 10, 2001 <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 EXTENT OF RESTORATION/REPAIR WORK: <br /> <br /> A. Verify extent of restoration/repair work required with Architect prior to commencing <br /> work. Notify Architect promptly if exposure of hidden conditions reveals <br /> additional required restoration work. <br /> <br />3.02 RESTORATION CLASSIFICATION <br /> <br /> A. Restoration and repair work shall be classified as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Class I - minor to moderately damaged wood components exhibiting <50% <br /> damage or deterioration. <br /> <br /> 2. Class II - wood components exhibiting greater than 50% damage or <br /> deterioration or of a sufficient degree to render them structurally <br /> unsound or beyond repair using Class I repair methods. <br /> <br />3.03 REPAIR OF CLASS I DAMAGED WOOD <br /> <br /> A. Verify extent and classification of damage and remedial methodology with Architect <br /> prior to commencing work. <br /> <br /> B. Photo-document damage prior to ~eatment. <br /> <br /> C. Verify adequacy of moisture protection for affected components. Complete <br /> necessary demolition work. Dry affected areas thoroughly. <br /> <br /> D. Treat decayed areas with fungicide and termaticide. Use an emulsible concentrate <br /> termaficide for dilution with water, specially formulated to prevent reinfestation by <br /> termites. Dry wood thoroughly after treatment. <br /> <br /> E. Treat weathered wood with a solution of 24 oz. exterior varnish, 1 oz paraffin wax <br /> and enough mineral spirits/turpentine to make 1 Gallon. Apply liberally by brash <br /> to saturation point. Allow wood to dry thoroughly before proceeding. No spray <br /> application will be allowed. <br /> <br /> F. Fill small cracks and holes with linseed oil putty. Holes or deteriorated areas <br /> larger than 1/2" are to be repaired with Abatron's semi-rigid wood epoxy and <br /> patching compound. Follow manufacturer's directions for application. Sand filled <br /> and consolidated areas to match original profile and/or undamaged adjacent areas. <br /> <br />3.04 REPAIR OF CLASS II DAMAGED WOOD <br /> <br /> A. Verify extent and classification of damage and remedial methodology with Architect <br /> prior to commencing work. <br /> <br /> B.
